Zenebe B. Uraguchi holds a Ph.D. in economics and brings over 20 years of experience at the intersection of research, policy, and practice. His work focuses on inclusive, sustainable, and scalable economic development, using systems-based approaches to understand and address complex socio-economic and environmental challenges. At BFH-HAFL, Zenebe teaches and supervises research in areas such as labour market systems, sustainable livelihoods, green and inclusive business models, and impact assessment—particularly in the context of global transitions and rural transformation. He also facilitates trans/interdisciplinary collaboration across agriculture, forestry, food systems, and environmental studies. In addition to his academic responsibilities, Zenebe serves as Director of the HAFL Hugo P. Cecchini Institute. The Institute acts as a center of competence for applied research, policy engagement, and knowledge partnerships, working with international organizations, private sector enterprises, NGOs, and academic institutions. Before transitioning into academia, Zenebe worked in international development cooperation and private sector initiatives across more than 20 countries.
